Hi! I’m Audrey

How I went from being a retail industry techie in search of more meaning and purpose to finding it by coaching and mentoring independent specialty retailers to achieve more growth, more freedom, and more cash in the bank.

HOW I GOT HERE

I found something meaningful that makes me happy and allows me to help others.

I have more than 35 years of business experience, all closely related to the retail industry. With my degree in fashion design from the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC, I developed my career on a diverse path from design houses through the media industry.

As a software trainer, I spent more than 15 years teaching independent retailers across the country how to automate day-to-day operations.  Working with independent retailers was a game-changer because automating manual tasks allowed them to make the most of their time and resources so they could increase productivity, cut costs and increase profits.

I discovered that providing solutions and teaching retailers how to make essential improvements came naturally to me, and I could see my work was making a difference.

The results my clients were getting inspired me to figure out how I could make a bigger impact, which meant I had to learn to play a bigger game.

The next step was firing my W-2 boss. It was the best day ever.

TIME FOR SOMETHING NEW…

It was clear that it was time to refocus my talents and skills to use technology, data, and information to help store owners improve, progress and grow.

So, in 2009, I began the next chapter: A career of helping independent retailers create strategies to improve their cash flow.

The conversation went from running simple reports to see how many pairs of shoes the store sold to discussions with my clients filled with meaningful questions, such as:

    • “How many pairs of shoes did I sell profitably?”
    • “Did I miss sales because I needed more shoes on the shelf this month?”
    • “Do I have enough shoes to meet customer demand in the next 30, 60, or 90 days?”
    • How can I maximize every shelf in my store to improve the customer experience?

From the 2008 recession through the 2020 global pandemic, week after week, month after month, I worked with and guided my clients to navigate change.

Mentorship

Very often, store owners get so busy with the day-to-day store operations they don’t have time or energy to work on the initiatives that will strengthen their store’s foundation, which is critical for profitable P&Ls. Working together allows me to provide support, accountability, and direct attention to goals and objectives that yield results.

Navigating change requires learning new things and doing things differently. Whether it’s finding help building their online store, hiring new team members, or implementing a new point-of-sale system; I help my clients find the needed resources for their store’s success.

A little more about me

I fill up my cup walking along the ocean for an hour or two 3 or 4 times a week.

I enjoy watching NBA games. I am enthralled by the competition, the momentum shifts that occur in the game, and the great players’ commitment to excellence.

I enjoy a good detective novel. My favorite characters are Harry Bosch written by Michael Connelly and Cormoran Strike written by Robert Gailbrath.

I love the exhilaration of a new adventure.
